We’re already aware that quarterback Trey Lance will be given the franchise’s keys, but it’s not clear if he will be successful. Regardless of whether Trey Lance succeeds, the fact is that his impact will define the 49ers outcomes.

Handing Out Second Chances

Not many people get second chances. If you lose at a game of cards, you’re unlikely to be given a second chance. If you lose at poker at Grand Rush, you’re unlikely to be given a second chance. However, it seems that the San Francisco 49ers are more than happy to hand out second chances.

Some players will have the opportunity to get the redemption that they need. This second chance could be important as the players may end up being key contributors to what comes next.



Trent Sherfield Wide receiver

Trent Sherfield did look as though he was going to do some magic on the field in 2021. However, any 49ers fan will have seen that things did not turn out as expected. After some relatively easy catches, Sherfield practically disappeared during the regular season.

This widely-respected player only had 9 receptions and one touch down. Many may wonder what had happened to Sherfield and whether he would stay with the San Francisco 49ers. While it looked as though he would being given a second chance; after all Sherfield does have a great rapport with Trey Lance, and there is always a chance that this rapport could help him to thrive. However, Sherfield opted to sign with a different team as a free agent and chose to try his luck elsewhere.

Deommodore Lenoir Cornerback

Deommodore Lenoir could have performed better in 2021. However, it did not look like Lenoir was up to the job. His usual work of being a reliable defensive back seemed to almost disappear. Lenoir was sent to special teams and told to do backup duties as a result of this. However, it seems as though he is being given another shot. Perhaps being on backup duties was the metaphorical slap in the face that Lenoir needed. Things are set to get better for this talented player.

It does look as though the San Francisco 49ers will be losing some of their greatest defensive backs. This may well be the reason why Deommodore Lenoir is being given a second chance. Perhaps though, the 49ers have seen how well Lenoir usually plays and they want to give him the chance to excel. There is speculation that this defensive back will be given an even bigger role next season. Time will tell as to whether this happens.



It looks as though the San Francisco 49ers are happy to hand out second chances. If any player deserves one, Deommodore Lenoir does. He is a highly-skilled players that usually bring a lot to the team. Perhaps, like everyone, they are allowed to have a bad season before they show us what they’re really capable of.
