Round 1, Pick 10
Michael Crabtree, 6'1.5", 215lbs , WR, Texas Tech
|
|
The 49ers used their first pick in the 2009 draft to select Michael Crabtree, arguably the best WR in this years draft.
Crabtree was expected to go higher in the first, and deliver great value to the 49ers at number 10. Crabtree will
join the 49ers squad and compete for playing time with Bruce, Battle, Morgan and Hill. He will naturally have his work
cut out for him against this bunch, and will have the benefit of learning from the very experienced Bruce.

Round 3, Pick 10
Glenn Coffee, 6'.0", 209lbs , RB, Alabama
|
|
It was pretty much a certainty that the 49ers would pick a smash mouth running back to complement Frank Gore,
and to take a bit of a load off of Gore. Singletary wants to be able to run the ball with authority. Coffee
is exactly that type of player, and as his name would suggest, the 49ers hope he plays like he has had a load
of caffeine. He has surprising speed and can break away if the opportunity is there. He does have some
injuries in his history, which is not surprising for this type of running back.

Round 5, Pick 10
Scott McKillop, 6'.1", 244lbs , ILB, Pittsburgh
|
|
Scott McKillop will join the 49ers linebackers with the hopes of providing the team some depth at a position that has
varying levels of talent. Scott has a good knowledge for the game, and a nose for the ball. He is a capable tackler
and plays with good leverage. The 49ers hope that he can add some depth this year, and see time perhaps in rotation
at ILB.

Round 5, Pick 35
Nate Davis, 6'.1", 2226lbs , QB, Ball State
|
|
With the 49ers quarterback sitaution unsettled, drafting one even in the late rounds was not a bad idea. Whether or not
Davis makes the cut, he will provide the team with someone fresh to begin to groom for the role. Davis has good intangibles
but comes from an unconventional offense. That will make adjusting to the pros someone more difficult. Nevertheless, Davis
is a great athlete, and has had an impressive career so far.

Round 6, Pick 11
Bear Pascoe, 6'.5", 251lbs , TE, Fresno State
|
|
Bear is an accurate way to describe how Pascoe plays the TE position. He is a strong blocker, and very smart, having played
quarterabck at sometime. he is athletic and very succesful on special teams. Although the 49ers have plenty of tight ends
Bear will give them an option to perhaps begin grooming a new long snapper or at the very least to replenish the back up
blocking tight end role. Another player that fits the Mike Singletary mentality.

Round 7, Pick 10
Curtis Taylor, 6'.2", 209lbs , FS, LSU
|
|
Taylor comes from a good school and was an effective player when not fighting injuries. The 49ers are in a situation where
they can groom a safety, and Taylor will likely move into the role well. He will see time in the rotation but has the
size and ability to move into the role once he matures in the NFL.

Round 7, Pick 35
Ricky Jean-Francois, 6'.3", 295lbs, DT, LSU
|
|
The 49ers went back to back with LSU players selecting Francois. Though inexperienced Francois posses the tools to develop
into a fine defensive line player. It is somewhat surprising that the 49ers did not address this area earlier in the draft.
Francois plays with good leverage and is a strong man. He will have to be groomed into the NFL but is a good project for a
team that is somewhat unsettled along the line.
