Delanie Walker, along with the other 49er tight ends, may see their playing time dwindle after the acquisition of a new group of wide receivers.… Extra Point:
I have said all along that the Niners will not have enough balls to go around. They have the weapons of "the greatest show on turf" but that's not the show we can expect. So Walker will see some diminished play time if the receivers around him can hold their own. On the other hand, he's so capable, and gives the Niners more flexibility.... so if ever there was a reason to keep him on the field, that may be one of them. Given that Walker is in a contract year, the Niners either need to groom TE's for the future (which they are - my money is on Reuland) or lock him up. The article argues Walker had a forgettable season - but I don't see it that way at all. Although Walker's receiving numbers were not incredible, his work in the blocking game was very noteworthy.
