Vernon Davis limping; Derek Carrier ready to step up

**UPDATE** Neither Vernon Davis nor Vance McDonald were on hand for the start of practice. Anthony Davis (hamstring) and Tramaine Brock (toe) also were not present.

Vernon Davis is likely to miss his second straight practice with an ankle injury,

Carrier is taking big strides with the team, there's no doubt about that - but Davis would be sorely missed if he is hobbled this weekend. Meanwhile, the Niners are still likely going to miss Brock this weekend, and they will be tested by the Cardinals' receivers that's for sure.
