The 49ers have an interesting dilemma this offseason. Alex Smith has officially proven he can quarterback in this league - but his contract is coming due, and Kaepernick was drafted to be the QBOTF. Smith will likely want to be rewarded with a 6 year deal, he is still a young guy after all. Kaepernick certainly would not need more than 3 years to develop (or not develop) providing the coaching staff and system stay constant. So what's a team to do?
