Alex Smith went through his second straight practice wearing a black, no-contact jersey, an indication that he hasn’t yet been fully cleared after his Sunday concussion. As was the case…

Smith is making strides but I still would be surprised to see him start this weekend. The Bears seem to be buying into the notion that the offense won't change much regardless of quarterback... I'm not convinced, but that doesn't matter. This game will depend on the 49ers defense and its ability to stop the run or not. Yes, you read that right.
