The 49ers have offensive playbooks, but that doesn't give them the whole story. Alex Smith acknowledged Friday that he can give his teammates an introductory class on the Niners' West Coast offense, but the graduate-level work will have to wait… Extra Point:
Smith seems realistic in his approach to getting the team up to speed. The report substantiates earlier claims that the camps were to get to know terminology and the west coast offebse in general more than the 49ers offense overall. Maybe that is why no defensive playbook was handed out the assignments are more situation based then how to line up and what means what. In order to teach the reads a position needs to make you really need the teacher.
