There was an interesting article about the 49ers yesterday by former sports agent Joel Corry. It’s the sort of state-of-the-franchise piece every 49ers fan should read once and one…
Extra Point:At some point the tenure of Frank Gore and Justin Smith's careers will come to an end. That could be for the 49ers or for the NFL - and it could very well be after this season. Smith is more likely to catch on with another team for a year or two - because he has journeyed through the NFL already... but Frank? I suspect, he'll move into coaching pretty gracefully. I was reading an interview I gave to the USA Today in 2007, and I mentioned how the 49ers running struggles that season were not a factor of Gore, but a factor of the offensive line and a lack of imagination in play calling. Looking back at those words it reminded me of how pivotal Frank has been to this franchise over the years. How badly the 49ers messed up by not giving him the shot to win the Super Bowl for them, and how much they need to get him there one more time.
