QB Tolzien among five players waived by 49ers



Scott Tolzien, who served as the 49ers’ No. 3 quarterback the last two years, was one of five players waived today as the 49ers try to reach the 75-player…

I thought the Niners may try and stash Tolzien on the injured reserve, but I'm not surprised the team is going a different route at quarterback. It seems pretty clear that McCoy and Daniels will be the backups, the question is whether the team risks exposing Daniels to waivers. The team also released Punter Colton Schmidt, linebacker Joe Holland, guard Al Netter and running back D.J. Harper also were released and must make an additional 10 cuts.
