Colin Kaepernick has a brand new monster contract, but 49ers president Paraag Marathe was keen to leave the team flexibility in its construction.

My first inkling was that the 49ers may have over paid for Kaepernick - despite the strong start to his young career. Reading how this contract breaks out, this is a very reasonable deal, that has many favorable terms to lower the risk to the Niners should Kaepernick not pan out.
