… The 49ers have started a Cold War in the NFC West against the Seahawks. In the offseason both teams started stock-piling weapons, both offensive and defensive. The Seattle Seahawks started the war, but it seems that Jim Harbaugh has countered every move that Pete Carroll has made. Seattle went out and picked up wide receiver Percy Harvin from the Vikings, San Fran countered with WR Anquan Boldin. Seattle claimed former 49ers long snapper Kyle Nelson of of waivers. Harbaugh and Trent Baalke answered by nabbing Charly Martin. On and on it went like that, with a couple of exceptions for San Francisco. The 49ers dumped former quarterback recovery project Alex Smith to go all-in on Colin Kaepernick. And they dealt uber-flop wideout A.J. Jenkins for semiflop wideout Jonathan Baldwin. These teams go head to head twice every season. In week 2 and in week 14, Football game spread predictions could be anybody’s guess. The rest of the 49ers schedule is just as unforgiving with only a game against the Jaguars that are take it to the bank bets.
Both teams are poised to win the Super Bowl and not just this year, but for at least the next half decade. Both teams have sophomore quarterbacks coming off of breakout seasons. Both team defensives are ranked #1 and #2 for fantasy value. Both teams have big strong run it up the gut running backs.
There are a lot of teams that you could bet the house on this year that have a great chance to win come the first Sunday in February and San Francisco is on the top of that list. They were the bridesmaid to Baltimore’s bride last year. That makes this team very dangerous. The experience they got from the playoff run and the agony of losing the championship game is going to fuel their 2013 campaign. They're young, stacked and might be the proverbial favorite if Crabtree was healthy.
If Kaepernick can find another pair of hands to compliment TE Vernon Davis and the ageless aforementioned Bolden, if the defense stays healthy and if Crabtree can get back in time for the latter portion of the season, it wouldn't be shocking at all to see he and Harbaugh holding up the Lombardi come February. At the very least San Francisco looks like one of the top contenders in the NFL and a team very much likely to get in the playoffs and make some noise.
