One of the later preseason games on Friday night will be between the Vikings and 49ers. While the Vikings will be without their best player for now, the 49ers are stocked full of talent that they will want to get …
The Niners were lacking the offensive firepower to get past the Giants last season, and they have seemingly solved that through the draft and free agency. To help out Alex Smith, Vernon Davis, Frank Gore and Michael Crabtree, the Niners brought in Mario Manningham, Brandon Jacobs and Randy Moss. This running based offense just got a lot more dangerous. The Vikings are entering a season where not much is expected of them. They are surely the last place team in the NFC North, and with Adrian Peterson not yet ready for active football, the Vikings will have to rely on the arm of Christian Ponder and the very talented Percy Harvin to win games.
In this contest, there is no way I can advise taking the points with the Vikings. Although this is the preseason, the 49ers have countless rookies and new faces on offense and they will want to get them game time. Their depth alone might leave the undefeated in the preseason. I haven’t even mentioned their number one defense.
Although it’s tough to predict how they will do when the games start to matter, I love the 49ers here. Alex Smith will have to continue to limit his interceptions, and I bet we will see a little more of him Friday, because of all the new faces in San Francisco.
