The wait is over, football is back with. There was plenty to keep followers interested during the off-season, with coaches leaving – either by choice or before they were pushed – the trades and emergence of the best young talent.…

Following a chaotic two years, the National Football League is back at full speed, and we’re delighted.
What should you expect from a campaign that is being billed as the most competitive in a generation? Which teams have started well, and which are fast becoming a dark horse worth following? Are the favourites living up to the hype, or have their opening two games left fans feeling flat? Getting the answers to these questions could help you make predictions on the next round of matches or next year’s Super Bowl winner. The more you know, the better your picks will perform, either amongst friends or when playing the New York sports betting apps.
The season is just a few games old, but already we are seeing the various divisions taking shape. The best teams have started well and are beginning to pull clear, while the strugglers have been sucked into trouble and face a battle to free themselves. In this article, we look at the start made by New York’s two biggest sides, the Giants and Jets, who have suffered a mixed bag during September.

Jets sink to the bottom
The New York Jets share a pool with the Miami Dolphins, Buffalo Bills and New England Patriots, one of the early season favourites to win the Super Bowl. Fans of the Jets had high hopes for this year, hoping to see their beloved side make it through to the playoffs before targeting a run deep into the competition. A spot in the playoffs is the least supporters, and members of the board want to see this term, but the coaching staff and players have a long road ahead if they are to make it through.
With two games on the board, the Jets are stuck to the foot of the table following one win and a defeat. Everyone connected to the club believed 2022 would bring good fortune, but not even the biggest pessimist in the stands could have imagined such a dreadful opener, one that threw up more questions than answers. They lost their first home match but won on the road to stay in the mix.
The Jets have played two, won one and lost one, scoring 40 points but conceding 54in the process. When taking a closer look at those numbers, it becomes obvious the problems facing the team’s managers, things they must get right on the training pitch before taking it into a competitive match. The 40 points scored isn’t too bad, but the 54 leaked in a pair of outings sets the alarm bells ringing. It ranks amongst the worst backlines of any side, and if things don’t improve quickly, it will be a long, tough season for all.
Giants standing tall
There may be trouble in paradise for the Jets, but across New York, we find the Giants standing tall, battling for the major places. This team wasn’t given the respect they deserved in pre-season, with traders working in Las Vegas, ex-NFL players and many pundits going against them. The general feeling amongst football fanatics was the Giants would do well to secure an extended season, playing football in the new year.
That remains to be seen, but there can be no denying they have given themselves the best possible chance. Back-to-back wins have thrown them into the running and there looks to be plenty more to come from this side. It won’t happen overnight, and the players still have a way to go before they hit full speed, but they are certainly going through the gears. The New York Giants look like they mean business and are a team worth keeping an eye on.
Giants are currently second in the NFC East, placed above Washington and the Dallas Cowboys but behind the Philadelphia Eagles on their total points scored and conceded. Both wins came at home, and they now have a combined 40 points scored and 36 conceded. A great start, but there’s a challenging road ahead.
