Meeting Steve Young

This isn’t news, it’s the story of when I was seven-years-old and I met Steve Young. If you feel this is self indulgent, please read something else. If you have a meeting-a-49er story too, please share it in the comment …

Extra Point:
Quite an emotional story... oddly the funniest part may have been about JJ Stokes. Steve Young has always been accessible and well liked. This story goes on to remind us why. I never had the opportunity to meet Steve - though we have corresponded. I took a unique umm.. slant... with my Young merchandise. You see, for the longest time I wanted an away Steve Young jersey. I saw an authentic when I was young... before 1994 for sure - and wow... amazingly before this site ever existed! At the time, these things were 'cheap'... um $100 or so maybe $120. I had been saving up birthday presents and the likes, and had the cash, but felt buying it may have been disloyal to Joe. Ultimately I went with a Rice jersey (not a bad choice... and for some reason the home version). I never did get the away Young, partly because over time the prices of these things have skyrocketed, but also, oddly because of this site. Years ago - I was contacted via the site to see if anyone in the community wanted to buy an authentic Young USFL jersey. Ultimately, I bought it (sucked myself in I guess :) ) and have never looked back. I like unique things, and it just struck me as awesome. If I ever knew I was going to meet Steve, I would be wearing that baby for sure. As a warm up to tonight's game, feel free to #Huddle about a favorite Niner memory.
