Extra Point:Tolzien has played well in preseason, his first game was probably his best showing, though he had a decent outing in week 3. The trend to keep only 2 starting QB's on the active roster likely started with the NFL exempted 1 quarterback per team from the practice squad roster numbers. Instead of keeping 4 QB's many NFL teams have chosen to stick with 3, and not dedicate a roster spot to the third. Is this a horrible idea? No... not really. The truth is most 3rd string QB's are very much long shots to be a factor at the NFL level - which to some degree makes them interchangeable. The biggest risk of exposing a quarterback to the waiver wires is actually their knowledge and perspective of the offense from the team they came from.
