Veteran 49ers center Eric Heitmann recently underwent neck surgery and is expected to miss his second straight NFL season, according to Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area.

Losing Eric Heitman for the season would be a huge loss. The team is working to guard against change over on the line, but nothing quite prepares a team to lose a centre. The team continues to aim for versatility on the OL.
