Phew! With the news that Penn State plans to hire Patriots offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien, it appears that Greg Roman will be remaining with the 49ers. Roman, who also interviewed for, but ultimately turned down, the head-coaching job at Tulane, …

Extra Point:
The 49ers were able to dodge a bullet in keeping Roman through this hire, but at some point they will start to lose some assistant coaches. The team hopefully has the depth to manage that, it is clear that they will not (nor should they) impede the process (though sweetening a deal may be worth it).
