What a difference a year makes right? Last year the Niners and Goldson were parting ways on twitter, this year, the two sides want to stay united. Goldson's demands will remain high - and the Niners may not be able to come to an agreement with him long term. Hence, they may try and groom Reggie Smith for the future if contract talks do not amount to anything.
