SANTA CLARA — Here’s what Vic Fangio said about Justin Smith in particular and the 49ers pass rush in general at the Thursday press conference, courtesy of the 49ers.

Extra Point:

Fangio can say whatever he wants about the good pass rush, and applying pressure, but the front has not gotten after the quarterbacks, nor held containment the same way they did last year. That being said, they may be even better against the run. Some of this may be scheme. I think Smith moved around more last year which also made him harder to block.
