Trent Dilfer played with Alex Smith. While he thinks the trade is a good move for his old teammate, he's very clear about who got the upper hand.

Details of the trade have not been finalized yet, but the extra picks continue to put the 49ers in a position to make big things happen on draft day to solidify the team through rookies or through trade. That's a big deal as each year the 49ers are struggling to keep their roster and talent together. Smith to the Chiefs is yet another 49ers to Chiefs quarterback trail. It will be interesting to see how that shapes up for Smith.
