Day 13 recap: Defense missing three starters; Alex Smith looks solid



There were more absentees today than in any other day of 49ers training camp. Defensive starters Ahmad Brooks, Aldon Smith and Isaac Sopoaga sat out the session. Books and…

I firmly believe Sopoaga is one of the unheralded stars of the defense. I hope this was just a general recovery day. Ian Williams is a promising prospect, so its unfortunate that he had to miss time with a heady injury. Tavares Gooden also played well last season, hoping he gets well fast. Eric Bakhtiari has looked very good this summer. He's coming off a strong performance in preseason too.
