After watching this game, its possible the 49ers might be able to make a dent in the NFC West. Up to this point, I thought the 49ers had way too much to learn to be effective this season, even in… Extra Point:
If the defense is going to carry the team, they will need to get better at keeping the ball outside their own 30. Sometimes, as we saw last night, they don't get tough until the ball is deep in the redzone. It is good that they can shut it down at that point, but you can only do that for so long. That means they also need the help of those long offensive drives to keep them fresh.
Interesting to note a business like attitude in the locker room after the game. Perhaps this is the realization that this is preseason, or maybe, better yet, the team is coming to grips with an expectation that they should be doing this each and every time they step on the field.
