Comparing Frank Gore, LaMichael James and Kendall Hunter

I found some interesting stats on the 49ers’ running backs I’d like to share with you.

According to Pro Football Focus, LaMichael James is averaging 3.37 yards after contact per attempt (14th in the NFL), has forced five missed …

Extra Point:

James deserves touches, but Gore is a second quarterback on the field. Not only that, the larger sample size makes a big difference to the numbers. Moreover, James is getting plays designed specifically for him, and in situations where the 49ers may catch their defense on their heels. Gore gets the base offense. I also think that Gore and Hunter did complement each other better, but maybe that had more to do with Gore being fresh, and Alex Smith being at quarterback.
