Here is my Thursday column on the 49ers’ offense, sans Michael Crabtree.
SANTA CLARA –Without Michael Crabtree, the focal point of the San Francisco 49ers’ passing attack last season, the 49ers need all of their receivers to step up …
Extra Point:I do think there is value to splitting Davis and Boldin on different sides of the field. I also think there is value in getting Davis the ball more - and for that matter dictating to the defense the terms you want to play by. The part of the argument that falls apart for me here is the lack of an understanding of the impact of chemistry between players. One look at Jeff Garcia + Terrell Owens and is darn clear why you want your quarterback to be on good terms with the rest of the offense.
