The 49ers finally landed the high-impact receiver they’ve been seeking since the start of free agency. ESPN reported today that the team had reached agreement with former Browns and Jets receiver Braylon Edwards on a one-year, $3.5 million deal.

Edwards, …
Extra Point:You could say the 49ers have been after Edwards since the draft in 2005. Now Edwards comes to the 49ers and will add instant fire power to the offense. The idea that once Crabtree is back on the field, this team has all the talent to catch the ball and make plays down field. How do you stop Davis, Walker, Morgan, Crabtree, Edwards, Gore. You get to the quarterback. Watch out Alex they will be coming for ya! If it wasn't tough on Smith yet, it's going to get even harder.
As I wrote in the exclusive articles earlier today, Edwards is a bit of a character, but he's talented. Gives the 49ers a real threat at receiver. The question is... will he behave and play nice on the team? What about if the quarterback is not getting it done? The 49ers are once again fielding a playoff caliber team. All that worrying for nothing? Let's hope so. No doubt this regime wanted to make its own roster. Either they didn't believe the existing players would play nice, or believed they were over rated.
Yet another one year contract, for more on the thinking behind this type of deal, check out yet another exclusive article posted today. A bit disappointing though as it provides no insurance against Morgan's contract which also expires at the end of the season.
