Battle stations! Scott Tolzien must fight — again — to keep his job



The contrast could not have been more stark in last year’s preseason finale. One of the contenders to be the 49ers’ No. 3 quarterback, Josh Johnson, threw two touchdowns…

Extra Point:

The biggest difference Tolzien has to face this year with his battle for a roster spot is that the 49ers have actually invested 'something' (aka a draft pick) into his competition. Tolzien and Smith had a great relationship, but it is unclear as to whether he and Kaepernick were as closely aligned. The two certainly play the position in far different ways.
