Surprise! General manager Trent Baalke didn’t reveal what player will be behind draft door No. 7 in eight days during his 30-minute pre-draft meeting with the media today.

But he did say the 49ers could trade up in the first …

Extra Point:
Interesting though not all that surprising that Baalke's position is softening on Alex Smith. Obviously Harbaugh has expressed a desire to keep Smith and hence the one year olive branch. Not surprising is the way the team is comunicating to its players through the media.

I do want to point out that Smith likely wont come back on a lame duck contract and that offering him two years makes more sense for a host of reasons - not the least of which is what would happen next offseason if the guy finally does perform.
