SANTA CLARA — Alex Smith spoke at his locker Thursday afternoon. Here’s what he said about his injured finger, and the perception that he has lost confidence.

I suspect that Alex's finger has been bothering him more than he is letting on. He has had a hard time pushing the ball deep ever since. I think the extra time off will help him get back to full health, and I also think the Niners will run the ball allot this week - so that should help him get some additional rest too.
