Here's the thing about stopping the rush. If you re move vanilla-ness form the equation you can attack it back. To do that, you either need a strong run game, or to get the ball out very quick. I expect the Niners will continue to have Smith work on the quick slant, because against the blitz that is one of your absolute best weapons.
