Alex Smith on Braylon Edwards, Joe Hastings and conservative play calling

SANTA CLARA – As you know, the Niners cut Braylon Edwards yesterday. As you may not know, they’re most likely going to promote practice squad WR Joe Hastings to the 53-man roster to fill Edwards’ spot.

Alex Smith answered questions …

Extra Point:
Smith continues to "say" all the right things. Sounds like he has respect for Edwards, it just didn't work out. Hasting is not gonna command the attention that Edwards did on the field - but he and Alex have some comfort which is good. In terms of play calling, Alex seems happy to win even if it is "tough" to just take the field goals. I can see Smith eventually wanting more than that though. I think the team did a better job last week of getting the redzone going than against the Seahawks.
