Alex Smith: “We made plays when we had to.”

This is a portion of a syndicated post. Read the original at Inside the 49ers or scroll down the Extra Point.

SAN FRANCISCO – Here’s everything Alex Smith said after the game, courtesy of the 49ers.

Coach Harbaugh was just talking up there about blue collar offense, haven’t heard him use that phrase before, and I don’t know what he means

Extra Point:
Some very insightful remarks from Alex. More praise for Ginn as a receiver. Ginn earned his pay last night, someone needs to give the guy some sort of bonus given the pay cut he took last week! Here's the thing about Alex... this was not one of those games, where he goes and plays lights out, throws for 300+ and 4 TD's to get the win. We all want to see those days, there is no doubt about that. No, this was about Alex playing, what I call "Alex Ball", that is efficient football, but perhaps for the first time in his career, he had coaching and players around him to actually win playing this kind of efficient, make no mistakes football. Now, I am hoping over time, we will be able to expand our definition of Alex Ball, but for the time being, this offense, albeit highly conservative, new what it took to win - and did it. Granted, they need to be better, especially against better teams, but this was Alex coming to the line, digesting a defense, and making some very good decisions with the ball, and very accurate throws. It was nice to see. If the run support was there, this game may have been as lopsided as the score ended up to be.
