Now that’s how you rebound properly. After losing to the Minnesota Vikings in Week 3, the 49ers
came out looking for blood and trounced the New York Jets last weekend.
Can they do something similar at home versus the Buffalo …
We don't see why not. And neither do sportsbooks, who have the 49ers favored by as many as 11.5 points in the NFL odds. The loss to Minnesota notwithstanding, the start to the season has been terrific for San Francisco. Jim Harbaugh really has these guys playing great football and believing in themselves.
The 49ers' pass offense may be one of the weakest in the league, but that's only because the running game has been working so well. Alex Smith, who has five touchdowns and only one interception on the season, has done a great job at managing the offense and not forcing too much.
Frank Gore seems rejuvenated this season. He's averaging 4.9 YPC and already had 326 rushing yards and three touchdowns. He's getting spelled here and there by Kendall Hunter and Brandon Jacobs is also set to return soon, but this backfield still belongs to Gore when he's healthy.
It's all about defense with these 49ers though, as they proved last week in shutting out the Jets.
San Francisco ranks in the top six in both pass and rush defense. NaVorro Bowman and Patrick Willis each have at least 35 tackles already on the year and Aldon Smith (4.5 sacks) hasn't let up at all after a dominant rookie season.
What does that mean for the Bills this weekend? They could be in for a very long day.
The 49ers have re-gained confidence and are running into a Buffalo team that just gave up 52 points to the New England Patriots. They should be able to take care of business at home.
