49ers notes: WildKap strikes again, Smith’s sore finger



Quarterback Colin Kaepernick made up for a second-quarter fumble by rushing for 33 yards in the second half, including a 16-yard touchdown run, his second in as many games.…

Extra Point:

Unfortunately confirmation that Smith's sprained finger is on his throwing hand. Reports were not to worry, but that can't be too good a thing for a team that is just starting to get the deep ball going. Smith will be nursing it this week that's for sure. Kaepernick's fumble was horrible timing, and it's one of the risks you expose when you put guys in the open field that (even with his college level running) are not really meant to be out there holding the ball. I suspect the team will work on that this week ... just a bit more ball control. The 49ers special teams were still having issues with their coverage units. I suspect that the Niners might be missing a few of their special teamers from last season.
