If Smith were to go down, I happen to think Johnson would get the nod in the hopes of a 'win now' mentality given the team around him. Given another year or two, and Kaepernick will either be the starter or if Smith is playing well, and Kaepernick wants to start, the team will not be able to keep both of them. Decisions will have to be made. On the OL, it's interesting to see that Boone is the front runner to start. Clearly the team was looking for depth with its recent acquisition.
