Continuing with the defensive theme of day two of the draft, the 49ers selected defensive lineman Joe Cohen of Florida. The former Gator has the ability to play all post on the defensive line, and its that versatility that will help him fit in at nose tackle with the 49ers. Cohen is a big man that plays with good leverage and power. He is not a highlight reel player, and needs to improve all aspects of his game, but will have the luxury of not being rushed into the starting lineup.

Cohen will rotate onto the field with Aubrayo Franklin added to the team this offseason. He will still have to compete with Isaac Sopoaga. The 49ers are working really hard to improve their front seven and Cohen should be able to help in that way. He needs to continue to develop in order to be a factor on this team. Cohen needs to become a real space eater in the 49ers defense.

The 49ers will have a fair job of sorting to do across the front seven after the draft. The team has added Ray McDonald who will probably play end, Jay Moore who will probably play OLB and Cohen. This combined with additions like Tully Banta-Cain and Cory Bockwoldt in free agency.
