After messing up the ligaments in his knee, linebacker Jeff Ulbrich is on the road to a speedy recovery. Amazingly, Ulbrich was walking without crutch shortly after his injury. But even more impressive, was that this week, Ulbrich returned to practice with the team.

Though Ulbrich is not making contact or wearing pads yet, he is in on the non-contact practices and football drills that the team is running. He is clearly on his way back as soon as possible, and Mariucci has now stated that he could return before the bye week.

While news on Ulbrich is positive, the news on Rashad Holman is not quite as good. Holman has not returned to practice. Holman remains questionable for the Giants game. If he is unable to play, Jimmy Williams will likely see some extra time at cornerback. Given that the team only has three safeties, the team will be rather light at defensive back if Holman is a ‘no go’.

Talk about it in the 49ers Paradise Forum
