While 49ers fans across the land are complaining that Mike Rumph hasn’t stepped in and become a completely dominant player in the NFL (and these people need to remember the time it took for Ahmed Plummer and Jason Webster to adjust to the NFL), Rumph has been nominated for this weeks Pepsi Rookie of The Week Award.

Rumph’s performance is improving, and on Sunday he recorded a team high seven tackles, and one tackle on specials teams for a two yard loss. Rumph’s tackles do mean that receivers are catching balls around him, but they also mean he isn’t being beat for a long play, which is an improvement over last season.

Special teams have also received a boost from Rumph who is often one of the first down field. In recent weeks, Rumph has come up with some big plays on special teams, which has contributed to the improvement in this area.
