Schedule Break Down Part 5 of 6
April 15 2002
By Bryan Hersh of 49ers Paradise
Schedule Break Down Part 5 of 6 The 49ers final string of regular season games, includes 3 out of 4 games against long time rivals. Starting again the Cowboys in Dallas, Terrell Owens should be the 'star' of this game. The hatred between the 49ers and Cowboys runs deep, so this game has to be fun to watch. Of course, the Cowboys have a long way to go before they become a legitimate NFL team again, but the 49ers should have fun beating up on a team that somehow dismantled them last season. There's no way the 49ers will let that happen to them again, not after losing home field in the playoffs because of it last season.

The stretch of games only seems to get better, with the Packers coming to town in the following week. A rematch of last season's first round playoff game - this one, as it always is - will be an intense, exciting game. The winner of this game will have a huge emotional boost late in the season - and the 49ers Jeff Garcia would love to regain some face against a team that made him look silly last season. These two teams know everything about each other and so the game could be the highlight of the season and for the 49ers, it will be the final home game of the season.

The 49ers will go on the road for the final two games of the season. Playing the Cardinals for the second time of the season, a NFC West match-up this late in the season could have playoff implications. The Cardinals and the 49ers will still be getting a feel for each other in this game, and with the 49ers coming off a big game, and looking forward to the Rams, this game could catch the team by surprise.

In a game that NFL must have seen as a cruel joke, the 49ers and Rams will play the final game of the regular season on Monday Night Football. This game will has playoff implications all over it. The 49ers and Rams will both be tested tremendously in this game - and providing the two teams are headed to the playoffs, this game could impact the seeding. Regardless, it's not one of those games that either team will be able to sit down its starters for, and it should cap off a great 2002-3 season.
