| More At School May 24 2002 By Bryan Hersh of 49ers Paradise In a follow up report to an article written on 49ers Paradise yesterday, there are more players still in school, and not in attendance with the 49ers. 49ers Paradise reported yesterday that Eric Heitmann and Austin Lee were excused from the camp. Today it’s been learned that running back, Ken Simonton, fully back Matt Stanley, and cornerback Ryan Fernandez, were all excused for the same reason. These players could miss up to three more weeks of practice time.
Also excused from the camp is Vinny Sutherland. Jeff Garcia has not participated at the camp yet, but is in attendance. The 49ers want to give their backup quarterbacks as many repetitions as possible in order to make their choice a little easier for the third QB roster spot.
