The 49ers re-signed veteran full back Terry Jackson earlier this week. Jackson signed the deal tendered to him earlier this off-season in order for him to report to camp. The tender is for one year, and for $563 000. The deal would make him a free agent at the end of this season. At one point this off-season, the 49ers were expected to sign his older brother Willie to compete for a top receiving spot on the team. That never panned out.

Similarly to Jackson, safety Ronnie Heard signed his one year tender, of $375 000. The 49ers expect heard to be a depth player at safety again this season, after proving very capable in the position last season. With John Keith still not practicing, Heard’s signing is encouraging.

The team also signed guard/center David Moreno and center Ty Wise. Moreno and Wise have already begun practicing with the team, but are still considered a long shot to make the roster.

The 49ers are going to sign Japan native, LB Masafumi Kawaguchi to a 10 day contract for their game in Japan.
