Former 49ers linebacker Reggie Givens has re-signed with is former CFL team, the Toronto Argonauts. Givens never really made it in the NFL. Despite playing 41 games over three seasons (32 with the 49ers in 1998 and 1999 and 9 with the REdksins in 2000), in fact he doesn’t have a sack, or interception to his name. But those who remember Given’s remember him fondly.

Givens filled in on the 49ers defense and was a regular special team’s player. A hard hitter with a real good sense of the game, Givens unfortunately could never make the full leap from Canadian Football to playing in the National League. He was however regarded as a key component of the special teams with the 49ers, and did not miss a game while with the team.

In returning to Toronto, Givens will be welcomed back to a city where he is well known for some outstanding defensive play. While with the Canadian club, Givens was a big part of two Grey Cup Championships. His great play, and persona will certainly be a welcome addition to the Toronto team.

Talk about it in the 49ers Paradise Forum
