Just when the 49ers thought they had put their kicking woes behind them, they learned that the troubles extended beyond Jose Cortez and Jason Baker. The team learned that Jeff Chandler is suffering from a strained right hip flexor, that will undoubtedly effect his kicking in Dallas this weekend.

The 49ers expect to have Chandler available, but do expect his range to be limited on both kickoffs and field goals. The 49ers would turn to recently signed LaFleur in the case of a dire emergency, but it’s not like the punter is a sure thing.

The injury is another on a long list of injured players, and comes at yet another vulnerable area. Chandler may not kick until the walkthrough on Saturday as he continues to rehabilitate his injury. Head coach Mariucci joked that the team may have to throw the ball down field for kickoffs, and like the Rams last year, would have to go for two point conversions after every touchdown.

Talk about it in the 49ers Paradise Forum
