There are about 2 billion different reasons Davis has been working at receiver - and that's why I have not given it much air time. For starters, Davis is very good at catching the ball on some routes, and very bad at others. He can improve one of the weakest parts of his game by working as a receiver. I could go on about this, but I think hat is the key reason. Others could be: Davis does exceptionally well on some routes and can teach young players about that, Davis is exceptionally strong and can help corners learn to bump on coverage, the 49ers were short on receivers on particular day, the 49ers are expanding their playbook and formations ... and on, and on, and on.
