The 49ers believe the pass rush was the problem with their defense late in the season, and proof came in how they executed their draft plan.
The 49ers draft plan was absolutely to improve the defensive front seven. They need that. They need depth there, and they need to rotate through their players to that depth so there is experience across the roster and players are familiar with each other. The team obviously believes the pass rush will be enough to improve the pass defense that struggled particularly against slot cornerbacks. They must also believe that Nnamdi Asomugha brings something to the mix.
