Grading The Draft
April 22 2002
By Bryan Hersh of 49ers Paradise
By the time you get around to reading this, half the NFL 'experts' will be giving teams a grade on their draft. While it's always nice to receive an "A", the truth of the matter is, until all these prospects step up and start playing, grading them is impossible.

About the only thing that can be graded is whether a team addressed its needs and the measurable aspects of each player. Really, that's all the experts can tell us. But it's fun to read anyway.

It will be over the summer when the players start practising at the NFL level, and in pre-season when the they start competing. That is when drafts should be evaluated. But in today's world it's instant gratification that we all look for. So go ahead grade the draft, read what the experts have to say, but remember, come September things may be drastically different.

Talk about it in the 49ers Paradise Forum
