No surprises there though I was hoping that Gore might make it this year.

I hear you but hard to argue Gore should have been chosen over AP, Jackson or Williams  Undecided

No question Grid.

Still, he is our offensive mvp imho.

Had Crabs been in on time he would be in the discussion as well.  Who knows maybe he gets in the pro bowl as a rookie?

Gore frankly didn't deserve it this year though I think that's more a product of the O-Line and crummy OC than his own doing.  The injury didn't help his chances.  Still, I don't think I'd trade him for any other RB in the NFC, including fumble-fest AP.

The one guy who did deserve to go but didn't was Franklin.  He had a really great year and got overlooked.  Takeo Spikes is a heck of a player too but for some reason wasn't even in the conversation.  He should have been as I think he's nearly as good as Willis.

If Ahmad Brooks can carry his excellent play from the last few games over into next season and winds up being a starter I honestly think he could be a candidate for next year's Pro-Bowl.  To me is rise up the ranks is the most exciting development of the year.  He's exactly what the defense has been missing for the last few years and he could take a darn good D and make it a great one, especially if he has a counterpart on the other end of the formation that can rush the passer too.

Flack like you after the monster year he had for us, I was surprised that Franklin did not get selected.

I think a few Chargers and Bengals might disagree and say a winning record does not guarantee anything  Wink  Ray Lewis got in on name recognition!

There's a good chance Gore's going to be there anyway since he's the first alternate. Here in St. Louis, the rumor is rampant that Stephen Jackson won't play because of his injured back. And if the Vikings make it to the Super Bowl, Adrian Peterson won't play either (new format this year). So Gore may well get there, and with the way he finished up he certainly deserved it.

Right D, the new format has the Pro Bowl played the week BEFORE the Super Bowl, which means players from the two SB teams won't be involved. So if the Vikings make the SB, Peterson would not be playing (and neither would Favre, FWIW). In that case, Gore gets in as the first alternate. A bunch of alternates will get in this year because of that change.

Gore takes Jackson's spot in the Pro Bowl

He deserved to go over Williams to begin with but this is better than nothing.

So Gore, Davis, Lee and Willis. Not bad for an 8-8 team.

I read somewhere that even Justin Smith might get in because the Williamses of Minnesota play in the big one.

White, Smith latest roster replacements
http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4860263

Also added to the roster is San Francisco 49ers defensive tackle Justin Smith, who is replacing the injured Kevin Williams of the Vikings. Smith was originally selected as an alternate, but this will be his first Pro Bowl appearance in nine seasons.

Half the league became pro bowlers because of guys pulling out of it.  It's time to pull the plug on the Pro Bowl comepletely imo.  The game is a joke, and nobody wants to play in it so why have it?  Just name the all pros and be done with it.  I didn't watch much of it, but what I did see of those guys playing defense last night...or whatever it was they were doing...was flat out embarrassing.

It was a joke.  One play in particular is when M. Wiliams had a clean shot on Brees and just ran bye him allowing him to step up in the pocket and deliver about 30 yard pass.

I didn't stay up to watch it even though it was live on TV (at 1:30 AM). Looks like it was a good decision.

Maybe they should just invite the Pro-Bowlers to play a Golf tournament against the NBA All Stars or something like that. Or an NFC vs. AFC Softball game. Or a huge online Madden event where fans can play against their Pro-Bowler of choice...

Can't say I blame them to be honest. Anyone remember Robert Edwards... very promising running back tore his knee apart during the rookie probowl years ago? His career was never the same.

The game is just far too physical. The only one that treated it like a game was Sean Taylor.

You're right Bob. Baseball is fine for an All-Star game, even though it's still kind of stupid. There's very little danger of long-term injury in a baseball exhibition. I had forgotten about Robert Edwards. I thought that guy was going to be very good, but he never came close to where he was after the knee injury.

I do and your right that hit that S. Taylor (RIP) put on was very far from the norm. to say the least.
