ESPN offers Theismann college job
« on: March 28, 2007, 12:18:06 PM »

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/football/nfl/03/27/bc.fbn.espn.theismann.ap/index.html

"I've been an NFL guy since 1974, so for 33 years now that's been my life," Theismann said in a telephone interview with The Associated Press. "Now you are faced with the prospect of that not being in your future. It would be like training to be a doctor or a lawyer and having them say, 'we would like you to change to another profession.' I need some time to think about it."

I bet Joey T. ends up with anouther net-work doing pro games next season.

Although I am not familiar with his work in the booth I just don't see him as a "college guy"  Undecided

Is the 'college game' they are talking about baseball, Hoops? Then I could see him taking some time to think about it, but if they put him in on some college football games that wouldn't normally garner much attention... It could be good!

I really wish they would wake up and bring Dan Dierdorf back to the MNF booth.

Why, so MNF would suck even more?  I always thought Dan was an irritating goof and I'm so glad he's gone from MNF.  There are FAR worse commentators, but I've never been a fan of Dierdorf's.  Sorry, just don't get it.  I think Madden sucks too, but what do I know?

I'm am soooooooo glad he's gone.  I'm a nice easy going guy, but Theismann just sucked soooo bad I've been hoping he'd get hit by a truck for years.

Ron Jaworski has replaced Joe Theismann as the football man on ESPN's Monday night variety show. This has not been lost on our hordes of e-mailers beating down the doors for a prediction on how this will play out.

It's a mighty strong dilemma for your faithful narrator. I rated Jaws a straight five stars, the highest possible rank, for the one live game he worked last year. ESPN's Tony Kornheiser, whose high school recitations added nothing, and really should have been the man to go, was rated no stars. So what's in store? A double rating? An average grade of, say, two and a half? Beats me. Depends on what the ESPN high rollers want to come over their airwaves, football analysis or mishmosh.
