Your probably right about him not being a secret anymore, but that would not stop me from drafting him.  Now to see what he does at the combines, see if he either shines or fails to shine there.

Now on to the kid that I think is going to be something special. I know that I told D that just because I list someone here doesn't mean that the 9er's should draft him... well... forget that. Draft this kid, I want him to be a 9er and for obvious reasons. Once you read some of these articles, maybe you'll say the same thing?

http://www.draftshowcase.com/TimmonsFeature.htm

http://www.blackathlete.net/artman/publish/article_02058.shtml

You got to think to yourself... this is a kid that I would love to have on the 9er's.  He is not a 'secret' amongst NFL circles, so who knows where he will get drafted.

R/G Great find. He really sounds like a player. i would not be opposed to getting him he should be a 2nd day player and would probably be a steal, maybe the next colston??

There are some people out there that compare him to Colston... not a bad comparison. I just like how down to earth this kid seem's to be. Hopefully he does not like fishing!

Should be pretty interesting to see on where he grades at in the combine. I think he has a great attitude and character, plus the fact that he is a talented football player. Maybe he really steps it up during the combine, then again... maybe he doesn't get invited... hard to see that happening though.

Clemson CB Gaddis 'comfortable' entering draft early
Associated Press

CLEMSON, S.C. -- Clemson cornerback C.J. Gaddis will pass up his senior year and enter the NFL draft.

The school said Gaddis told his coaches about his decision Wednesday.

"This is the best decision for me," Gaddis said. "I have thought about it for a long time and I am comfortable with the decision."

Souds like the type of player who would be worth a late round flyer on if he lasts that long.

Everything I have read on him says he'll probably go in the 4th or 5th round.  Then again, he might step it up and go much earlier.

You just never know who is going to fall or into the later rounds or end up in the early rounds.  It still shocks me that Spencer did not even get an invite to the combine and all he did was play/learn againt Fitz in college!  This kid is similar in that he was not a starter but sounds like he makes plays when he is given a shot.

Also, been trying to find some info on Jacoby Jones from Lane College Tenn, liked the way he looked at the East/West Shrine game.

Marvin White 6'2" 190 S   TCU  4.35 speed  Very productive and underrated.
S Marvin White led the team in tackles and was in on several big plays through the course of the season. He may need to add a few pounds for durability at the next level (6-2, 191) but has the speed to play in an NFL secondary.

Fast 40 for a S. Would he probably  be considered to shift to CB in the next level. Yet with that speed, and hopefully he is good in coverage, then he could compliment Lewis very well. Anybody seen Marvin White play?

I haven't watched him play, but TCU has had a pretty solid defense the last several seasons.

Quincy Black from New Mexico also very productive and underrated

http://golobos.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/black_quincy00.html

Considered one of the nations top LB's going into the season, but due to a slow start has fallen under a lot of radars. He has been compared to Julian Peterson as far as his athleticism is concerned, but lacks the kind of pass rush that JP is known for.

Re-Post from the draft 2007 thread:
EDIT: Yeah, R&G found him back on page 2, still, just to keep him fresh in everybody's minds:

I really like Kyle Shotwell (ILB - Cal Poly San Luis Obispo) in the 3rd or 4th.

He was one of four non-1-A players in the Shrine Bowl, where he was coached by our own Mike S.

Quote
Cal Poly senior linebacker Kyle Shotwell not only recorded the most tackles in Saturday’s 82nd annual Dell East-West Shrine All-Star Game, he also earned the Pat Tillman Inspirational Award the night before.

The award was voted by the coaches and the player selection committee and goes to a player who represents character, hard work and what they want a person in the Shrine game to represent.

article
bio

Definately a Nolan guy, and a good defensive talent as well, had 122 tackles and 7 sacks this season, and won the Buck Buchannan award, which goes to the top 1-AA defensive player.

Plus, I go to school with him =P

Jorden Palmer. Hs big and strong with good arm strength. Had health problems and made to many turnovers. But give him a couple years under Turner and Dilfer and he could become a very good backup. lus hes Carson Palmers little brother and that couldnt hurt either.

I still like this kid if we decided to take a qb late that Norv T. and Dilfer could groom:

http://uhcougars.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/kolb_kevin00.html

Kolb isn't fortunate enough to be a Vince Young or Matt Leinart, someone quarterbacking a top-notch football school with so much talent that the program couldn't possibly fail.

However, as the numbers clearly show, Kolb is a player with tremendous talents and he doesn't get enough credit for his accomplishments. He could possibly be the most underrated quarterback in the entire nation.

Kolb has had his share of ups and downs while at UH. He's had some outstanding performances, and then some performances he and UH fans everywhere would like to forget. But since coming to the campus three years ago, there's been no one else better for the job of quarterbacking the Cougars.

However, going back to my earlier statement, I think Kolb is somewhat underrated. What do you think? Is Kolb underrated, overrated, or are the current ratings sufficient?

I'm a big Jason Hill (from Wazzou) guy.  He is a big-time vertical threat, has good hands, and uses his body well.   And he's from The City.  Kiper has him going in the 4th-5th round.

Although he was an all American I believe Ameer Ismail (LB from Western Michigan) is still under the radar. I think he could surprise and would be a good player to develop and provide depth behind Manny Lawson.

http://www.sportsline.com/nfl/story/9976697

A couple of guys caught my eye here, not sure where they are projected to go though.

Ikaika Alama-Francis, DE, Hawaii, 6'5" 290
Quote
Ikaika Alama-Francis, DE, Hawaii: Though fans barely got an opportunity to notice, Alama-Francis was the most dominant force at the Hula Bowl and helped himself the most among the defensive end prospects since the end of the season. The 6-foot-5, 290-pound end entered the Hula Bowl as the highest-ranked prospect in the game, and further improved his stock with a dominating week of practice. He was only increasing his value with a sack and flashing a combination of power and quickness when he went down with a partially torn pectoral muscle. Alama-Francis, who had been slated to play the following week in the East-West Shrine Game, missed the contest and is rehabilitating the injury in preparation for the Combine.
Paul Soliai, DT, Utah, 6'4 325
Quote
Paul Soliai, DT, Utah: It's often easier for one-gap defensive tackles to make an impression during all-star games as their quickness can allow them into the backfield to make big plays that anyone can see. Soliai, on the other hand, is a classic two-gap tackle whose game isn't judged by racking up numbers, but rather by taking up two blockers at the point of attack. At 6-4, 325 pounds, Soliai has the size and strength to do just that. Throughout the week of practice and the East-West Shrine Game itself, he was double-teamed more than any other player. Despite his lack of statistics (I noted only one tackle), Soliai controlled the line of scrimmage. A prospect of his size and upside at defensive tackle (only one year at the position after moving over from the offensive line) would be drafted regardless. With his performance at the Shrine Game, Soliai proved to be one of the draft's better two-gap defensive tackles, likely raising his stock by at least a full round.

IMHO I would put down David Ball as a diamond in the rough!!!!! Ball is a WR out of New Hampshire and has quite a few records as far as I can tell. Hard to say if it will translate into the pros or not.

Here are a few more potenial GEMS....Jacoby Jones WR  Lane, Travarous Bain CB  Hampton, John Wendling  S Wyoming, Eric Wright  CB UNLV, Xzavie Jackson  DE Missiouri, Eldra Buckley  RB Tennesse-Chattanooga.

Brian Smith OLB  Missouri   6-4  240lbs

I love this guy but I forgot about him when he got hurt.  I think he could really help us out and he's either projected to go in the 6th or not at all (depending on where you go).  Here's what one site had to say about him:

STRENGTHS
This kid (before he got injured) was as good coming out as DeMarcus Ware was when he came out.  In fact, he was better.  He is smart and can play more than one position and is a pass rushing demon.  He has the body type that could easily add on 20 to 30 more pounds without it affecting he speed or quickness.  He reminded me a lot of Julius Peterson (OLB Seattle Seahawks).  Brian has excellent change of direction skills, speed and burst.  He showed leadership skills and was a head up, wrap up, squeeze and drive tackler.  He had a variety of pass rushing moves and could take a game over whenever he wanted to.  If Brian had not broken his hip, I would have considered him a top ten pick in this draft.

NEEDS TO IMPROVE
The very first question for the team that might be still interested in drafting this kid is whether or not he can pass a physical.  Then, of course, you have to see how far along he is in his rehab and ask a doctor if there are going to be any repercussions and physical limitations from a broken hip.

TALENT BOARD ROUND: 1/ Injury Flag
If this kid has the ability to come back from this injury without any significant problems, you are adding to your team a player that can be as impactful as Julian Peterson or Jason Taylor are to their teams.  This kid was the real deal and I think he would have been the top OLB in this draft.  He is a leader and plays the game with character, intelligence, passion and talent.  He understands situational football and makes the players around him better.  It was very upsetting to see a kid with this much talent who played football with such passion go down with an injury like this.  I’m guessing with the right doctor and rehab, it might take some time for him to heal correctly, but if a doctor says that he should have no problems playing football after he is fully healed, then this kid is worth the wait and a pick in the second day of this draft.  You are not going to see this kid’s name on any board right now unless he can workout for a team on his college pro day.  If he can work out, then I’m going to guess that he might show up as a 6th or 7th round pick.  If I were a team that had some extra picks in third, fourth or fifth rounds, I would check this kid out and think hard about drafting him.  I mean, if you can waste a third round pick on a kid like Maurice Clarett or any other player with obvious off field character problems, I would think that it would be worth it to draft Brian coming off a broken hip!  Let’s weight the two together for a minute and make a decision.  Drafting a player who is about to go to jail or … drafting a player coming off an injury. You be the judge.

Wow, this could be an AMAZING pickup in the draft, maybe if we don't get Adalius Thomas in FA.  Remember, we have drafted one guy in particular in the past that everyone thought wasnt going to do well because of a really bad injury.  But that one was a huge mistake.....  Does anyone remember why we picked up Frank "The Tank" Gore anyways?
