J - His BIO said Didn't emerge until playing weaker competition.   It is the Medium fish in the small pond.  In the bis pond he was a little fish.  It me that means he on the weak or raw side against higher compettion.

BIO  Weakness
Timed speed is okay but not great...Lacks a burst to recover...Can do a better job in run support...Only an average tackler...Much better in press coverage than he is in off...Didn't really emerge until he jumped down a level in competition in '06.

Garrett wolfe  over L Booker any day!  I don't care that he's small....This guy is smooth, and he will make an impact.  What did L Booker do at FSU? Booker Who? He might have had more  games under 25 yards games then games over 100 yards (Upset blogger inserts L Booker stats only to find that I'm telling it like it is)

Dr. Nick,
Nice find on the article.  I've been on the Walter Thomas band wagon for some time, although his bandwagon is pretty small.  He's worth the gamble.  Big guys who can play NT in the 3-4 are VERY hard to find.  I hope we draft him.

Cbass,
I'd rather take Wolfe over Booker as well.  If Booker didn't do it in college, what makes me think he'll do it in the pros.  Garrett Wolfe, if he learns how to kick return and punt return can be a steal and make a name for himself as a return specialist in the mold of Dante Hall.  He's also proved it  against the highest level of competition in college.  I posted some clips of him I believe in this section and the RB section.

This kid from Ohio State has great physical ability and could be a steal.

If Michael Bush is healthy (or deemed so by a team) he will give great value to whatever team picks him up imo... talk about bad luck for him eh?

Draft value chart

By Nolan Nawrocki
April 24, 2007

The value board below is based on PFW's grades and considerable feedback from NFL teams, and it projects the league value of players, pinpointing a specific area where players likely will be drafted. It is important to note that these values do not reflect where PFW thinks the players should be drafted or what type of pros they will become; that is better reflected in PFW's grades in its player printout, which will be updated Wednesday.

Each round is divided into three parts: A (early), B (middle) and C (late). Thus, 2B signifies the middle of the second round. Players may be drafted higher or lower based on team needs and fits within certain schemes. The value board may not list the exact number of players in a round as there are actual selections. More players are listed than will be drafted, especially in the last round, because of the very minor difference between late-round draft picks and priority free agents.

I think the Steelers take a shot at him, maybe in the 3rd round.  He seems to be the style of player they like at RB.  Just a hunch....

I follow college football quite a bit and think that two wide recievers that could be gems for us are mike williams from UCF, and yamon figurs from Kansas State.  Yamon figurs is the fastest football player ive seen since deion.  he is not only timed as fast, but plays even faster.  he might only return punts for his first few years but i think he will be a late round pick.
I am also pretty big on a linebacker from New Mexico, Quincy Black, he is a great athelete and really has a nose for the ball.  I am guessing he will be a 4th to 5th round pick and has starters potential in our 3/4.

I've been biting my tongue on this guy for a while b/c I am a Kansas State fan, but I would like to see us take Quintin Echols to compete on the DL.  He's a big bodied space eater that would fit better at NT than DE, but what can I say- I like the guy.

So much for Garrett Wolfe as a  hidden gem and us picking him in the 5th.  Chicago picked him in the 3rd round!  Crazy thing is, they have him as a change of pace 3rd down back.  He's not going to be doing any return duties with Devin Hester around.  At RB Pittman, Bush and Jackie Battle are still there, as well as Alonzo Coleman and Darius Walker.  I'm still holding my breath for Walter Thomas, I'd also be happy with Marcus Thomas, although he has some charter issues while Thomas has weight issues and going to class issues.  Pick your poison.

Rookie Thomas Clayton got a few carries, but Nolan doesn't see him as a short-yardage player. "He's more a first- and second-down back," he said. At 225 pounds, Clayton outweighs Maurice Hicks and Frank Gore, but Nolan said his style is more shifty than North and South. ...

It is still very very early in the process but so far I like the few early reports on T. Clay. sounds like we might have a player.  Now he obviously needs too keep his nose clean & impress in camp and we can say we got anouther steal.

Man, I still can't believe so many people got in a tizzy over drafting Clayton.  I'm glad he is showing promise...  and even if he didn't, who cares.  It most likely would have been just another player to get cut.  This way, if we have to cut Clayton, Nolan won't feel so bad, as he can rationale, "Oh, he was a character issue anyways."   Smiley

Good point Show but it is not going to come to that cause he is going to be a player we are talking about in camp! Smiley
