Still In Free Agent Market
May 24 2002
By Bryan Hersh of 49ers Paradise
The 49ers are not backing away from the free agent market just because their starting roster is pretty much full. Aside from their apparent interest in Blake Brockermeyer, the team remains active in the market. Most recently, the team signed linebacker TJ Turner who spent most of last season with the Patriots.

Turner played in two games last season, recoding no tackles. At 6’3”, 255 Turner has good size - but is likely nothing more than a training camp type player. Turner will have an extremely difficult time making the roster. The team also signed undrafted free agents WR Mike Jennings (Florida State) and CB Kenny Harris (N. Iowa).

The 49ers are reportedly interested in a few other free agents, including receiver Willie Jackson, but the team remains tight lipped about any contract talks it is involved in.
